We’re excited to organize another year of La Festa Della Repubblica!
In case you aren’t familiar, La Festa is an annual event that takes place on E. Passyunk Ave between Broad and Moore Streets—in the heart of South Philly. It’s Italy’s most cherished day to celebrate its patriotism, commemorating when the country shifted from a dictatorship into a republic after the end of WWII.
Philadelphia’s tribute will occur on Sunday June 5th, come rain or shine, and will feature a number of festivities, including live performers, food and drink vendors, dancing and much more.
Beyond those exciting activities, the highlight of the day will be The Spaghetti Bowl—an intense pasta eating challenge for any competitor who dares to think they have what it takes to show how Italian they are by consuming the most spaghetti. Challengers will take on the four-time champion, Marc Virga in an attempt to dethrone him once and for all. The event, which will be presented Pastaficio, starts at 3 p.m. and will be hosted by Philly’s own Marc Farzetta of 94 WIP Sports Radio.
La Festa in general starts at 11 a.m. on Sunday and is free for any and all who want to attend. Entertainment will be provided by the talented DJ Johnny Looch, and local rockers Stellar Mojo. Furthermore, there will be a full bar available all day for the 21 plus crowd in attendance. Come be a part of the ultimate Italian event in the ultimate Italian American neighborhood: South Philadelphia!
Sponsor alert: The event is just days away but it’s not too late to sign up to become a part of La Festa. By doing so, you’ll be putting your brand in front of over 7,500 eventgoers and loyal Philadelphians. Get in touch to join the existing sponsor roster, which includes Xfinity, TD Bank and Mark Cement and more.
There will be a variety of vendors at La Festa, including Esposito’s Porchetta, Mama Maria’s, Isabella Pizza, Noir, Stogie Joe’s, Midatlantic Waterproofing, Lacca Novelties, Punk Burger, T&N, Believe Boutique, The Bottle Shop, Candy Rocks, Carman Fiat and so much more! You don’t want to miss out on all these great Philly businesses coming together for one epic street fest!
La Festa is put on by Filitalia International, a Philly-based organization whose mission is to preserve and defend Italian heritage and culture by encouraging people to study the Italian language. Learn more about Filitalia here.
We’re looking forward to June 5th, and it’s an honor to be able to organize the bash once again. We’re certain you’ll be shouting mama mia! at the sight of what we put together! Everyone’s Italian at La Festa Della Repubblica, so we hope to see you there in your green, white and red.
In the meantime, if you’re looking for a top notch wedding DJ for your Philly reception, get in touch and we’ll be glad to point you in the right direction.
